We recently asked all the classes to dress up in a particular colour/theme and took some photographs. We have now put the photos together in a wonderful colourful calendar. The calendar runs from September 2016 to August 2017 and we have included school holidays and significant school dates on the calendar. The calendars are now on sale in the school for €10. So get yours quick before they're all sold out. This week we celebrate Space Week. Here are two cool websites to learn lots about Space and the planet we live on.
The girls in R.16 are enjoying Space Week in their class this week. They created a magnificent solar system for a wall display, created what their perceptions of Martians are, and are involved in the Tara Moon Project, a nationwide project looking at the moon. On Mon next they will go to the Axis to learn more about moons and design some themselves. Further study this week will focus on Mars, and what the Martian landscape looks like. The basketball team for this year started the Dublin mini basketball league here in St. Brigid's on Thursday last. Our opposition was Burrow N.S. from Sutton. After a great start which saw the girls leading 6-2, it was Burrow who finished the winners by a very slight margin of two points. Well done to the players, the scorekeeper, timekeeper and supporters.
We play St. Brigid's Wellmount in their school this Wednesday.
We had a lot of success exploring the school grounds today! We worked as scientists, even before we made a break for the outdoors. As a class, we predicted what we might find living in the local habitat. We then went on to use our senses of listening, seeing, touching and smelling to observe and identify a variety of living things. Armed with paper, pencils and a camera, we recorded our findings. Some of the minibeasts were a little camera-shy but we managed to snap quite a few. Take a look... What a beautiful day for the girls in R.16 to visit the Botanic Gardens today. We buddied up with senior infants to walk to the gardens. Ms.O'Byrnes class then went to visit the rose garden while Ms. Phelans class saw several of the sculptures on view. Once back at school the girls were delighted to draw their favourite sculpture from their visit. A few more photos from the harvest this week. |
