Different foods are 'in season' in Ireland at different times. Asparagus ripens in the spring, summer brings berries, apples follow in the autumn and root vegetables such as carrots are at their best during the winter. We have been learning about what time of year certain fruits and vegetables are in season in Ireland. We had fun identifying a selection of fruit and vegetables in a game called 'What am I?'

14 girls from the two 6th classes recently ran the Great Ireland Junior Run in the Phoenix Park. They ran 2.5km along with hundreds of other young children. They ran really well and had a great run. All received lovely medals as a memento of their run. Well done to all! A big well done to Lexie from Room 4 who got First place in the Rugrats European Dance Masters which took place recently. Here she is with her teacher Ms Brady and her very impressive trophy!
We are delighted that our Easter Fair was such a success! We want to say a big thank you to everyone who came out and supported the school on the day or contributed by donating or voluneeteering. Lots of bargains were had, lots of brillant prizes were won on the amazing Wheel of Fortune, and lots of Easter treats were eaten. St Brigid's artistic ability was clear with the amazing designs in our Best Dressed Egg Competition! We raised lots of money for the school and had great fun too. None of this would have been possible without the work of our Parent's Association who made sure that everything ran so smoothly on the day.
Have a look at the video below to see what we've been up to in Room 15 since January. It's been a very busy term and we had lots of fun too with Multi-Cultural Week, Spring Clean Week, our values work, Seachtain na Gaeilge, World Book Day, Easter and much more.
Well done on all your hard work and we look forward to our last term:-). What was your favourite event, activity or subject/topic last term? Feel free to leave a comment. A little snippet of some of the goings-on in 1st class last term in room 7. Lots of learning and lots of fun! :o) Now here's to a great term 3! Here you can see a collection of some of the beautiful art work on display around the school! What a talented bunch we are! Don't forget to look at the Gallery Section of the website for some more visual treats! :-) Over the past week, the pupils of St. Brigid's have been busy making Glasnevin a beautiful and tidy place to be. Some classes concentrated on the school grounds and the area immediately around our school, some went to Tolka Park and some others did their clean up in Johnstown Park. Well done to eveyone involved and many thanks to our super parents who supplied us with Dublin City Council equipment. See can you spot yourself in the slideshow! :-) (More pics on our Twitter feed!) The girls in room 7 have been exploring the value of 'Truth' through the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Check out their storytelling here..! |
