The 6th class girls in R. 16 and R. 11 had an excellent guided tour of the Botanic Gardens this morning before then looking at samples of flowers, leaves etc under the microscope. Many thanks to the two guides who were very interesting to listen to.

This month we will be focusing on the value of PEACE. The sub-values each week will be 'Not Wanting More Than You Need', 'Gratitude', 'Having a Balanced Lifestyle' and 'Reflection'.
For the month of May we focused on the value of Non-Violence. Have a look at some of what the classes got up to last month! The St. Brigid's Basketball Team played in the annual Dublin mini basketball tournament in the National Basketball Arena on May 29th. The girls had three pool games, winning two and making it to the 3/4 place play off. We were delighted to win this final game and come third! Well done to the players and our two scorekeeping girls who did themselves and the school proud.
All the girls in 1st class had a great day last Thursday on their school trip to the Pine Forest Art Centre... :o) We explored forces in science this week. We examined pushing and pulling. We predicted the effects of forces on objects and how far they would move with different pushes and pulls. We chased marbles around the room but really we were checking out how far they rolled on different surfaces. We learned about wind power too and we decided to design and make our own windmills. We had lots of fun. We have been exploring clay in R7. We created photoframes, experimenting with line, shape and texture. We painted our pieces and they are now ready to bring home and share.

![]() Both 6th classes went on their school tour yesterday to Baysports in Athlone. They had a really great time with lots of activities throughout the day including paddle boarding, go-karting, kayaking and much more.. Special thanks to parents Susan Nolan and Sue Gallagher who came along to help out on the day. See slideshow below for pictures of our action packed day. |
