Early on the morning of Tuesday 20th December, long before most Dublin footballers were out of their beds, Jonny Cooper & the Sam Maguire Cup came to visit us here in St. Brigid's. He arrived with his brother Niall and Mark Mc Manus (GPO -Na Fianna). There was great excitement and we're very grateful to them for taking the time to visit and chat to us. Thanks Jonny and all.

We've been busy in Room 15 for the last while and have been extra busy for the last couple of weeks with all the Christmas activities. See the slideshow below for some pictures of what we've been up to.
The girls in room 7 had a lot of fun this week singing Christmas songs and reciting poetry for their parents and grandparents. Here are a few photos and videos and a behind-the-scenes sneak peak at some of the rehearsals... Well done girls! :o)
There was great excitment in room 4 today. Senior Infants had lots of fun during their nativity, singing like angels. Thanks to Ms. Brady for putting it all together. Merry Christmas! There was great excitement in Room 14 this week as we put on our Christmas jumper fashion show in school. We have been busy for the past few weeks designing and creating our festive jumpers and writing our commentaries. On Wednesday we finally got to model our creations for the school as we strutted and sparkled down the catwalk. We also sang 'Rocking Around the Christmas Tree' to get everyone in festive mood. Everyone had lots of fun! Thanks to Yvonne for videoing the event and all those who helped to make it happen. Merry Christmas Everyone! :-) The school basketball team played really well in their leaue final in the National Basketball Arena, although losing to St. Matthews on the day. The girls showed great heart and determination and great skill. Two of the girls did a great job keeping score and time. Superb support from the two 6th classes on the day was wonderful to see and hear. Well done to all on the day.Training will resume in the Spring. From our parent survey on the teaching and learning of SPHE, we found that that lots of parents would like more information about the content of the SPHE curriculum. Below you will find an SPHE information sheet for parents. This describes the content of the SPHE curriculum, the programmes that support the teaching of SPHE and our school's two-year timetable. We hope that you will find this information useful! ![]()

On Friday the 2nd December we were invited to the Mansion House for the award ceremony of the City Neighbourhodd Competition. We were all very excited but nervous at the same time. We all work so hard to keep our school and neighbourhood clean that we really, really wanted to win.
We got the bus into town and walked to the Mansion House. On the way, we stopped off to say hello to Ms. Molly Malone and checked out the beautiful windows of Brown Thomas. When we got to the Mansion House we were greeted by the Lord Mayor and had some hot chocolate and cupcakes, they were delicious!! We then had an X-Factor competition. We performed a little drama and did a rap. The other school did some songs and raps too. Then it was time for the Lord Mayor to announce the winner of the City Neighbourhood Competion.........We were hanging off the edge of our seats, When we heard our name being called out we jumped up with excitment. We WON!!! We won a massive €1000. We would like to thank everybody for their help in winning this competition, especially Terry our gardner, David our caretaker, everyone on the Green School Comittee and all the children in the school for keeping their school and neighbourhood tidy. CONGRATULATIONS! |
