For January the new value that we are all focusing on is 'Non-Violence'. The related weekly values this month are forgiveness, concern for others and care for the environment. What better way to kick off 2017! :o)
Last month in St. Brigid's we focused on the value of 'Truth' The related values that we thought about each week were telling the truth and not being afraid. As usual, following Ms. Burke's 'Truth' assembly to kick off the month, there were lots of interesting and creative activities going on in all of the classrooms around the school relating to the values for the month. Here is a look at some of the things that the girls got up to last month relating to 'Truth'! The Great Ireland Run which will be taking part in April in the Phoenix Park was launched today. Three of the 6th class girls and Ms. Phelan were invited to take part in the launch at the Visitor Centre in the Phoenix Park. St. Brigid's were asked to attend to publicise the Junior Run which will take place on April 9th after the 10k/5k for adults. The girls who attended today were a credit to St. Brigid's. Well done Chloe, Alesia and Sophia. Welcome back to school, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year.
Don't forget to check out our calendar on the Homepage for school events and closures. I hope you're all excited to begin 2017 and are ready for lots of fun things in the year ahead in St. Brigid's. As usual the girls have been working hard in room 7 and are doing great! Here's a little slideshow of some of the things that they have been getting up in the last half term. :o) We have been very busy helping Santa Claus and the elves this Christmas. We helped make lots of toys and wrap them in Santa's workshop. We made beautiful Christmas tree in junk art, built the North Pole in the construction area and even got to explore the arctic and learn about arctic animals in the water area. Check out all the fun we had below! Today we decided to join in the festive fun and participate in the MANNEQUIN CHALLENGE. As you probably know the mannequin challenge is a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a moving camera films them. We have put our own spin on it and did it to a Christmas song. Have a look and watch St. Brigids Mannequin Challenge We are designing Christmas cards using the paint programme on the computer. Some children also handmade 3D Christmas cards using a variety of paper, sequences, glitter etc Have a look at how talented and creative they are. Well done to all the girls in Room 15 for their performance of the nativity story, some songs and poems. You all did a great job:-). A big thanks to all the parents and grandparents who came to see it. Thanks also to Ms. Armstrong for coming in to see it and taking this video for us.
