Active Schools Week 2016 on PhotoPeach

As part of our Active School Week programme a soccer game took place between some of our teachers and some girls from 5th and 6th class. It was a fun Friday afternoon and a very sporting event if maybe a little more competitive than envisaged:-). Ms Ryan scored the only goal of the game and it ended 1-0. It was a tough battle and a very impressive display by the girls team from 5th and 6th class. . I think we can all agree that the teachers were lucky to win it and we're quite sure this will be put right next year. Thanks to everyone who took part, our wonderfully enthusiastic supporters, Sheila and the girls from Room 11 who were our photographers on the day. Well done also to Shaunagh, Hannah and Sophie who acted as referee and lineswomen.
Some of the action is captured in the video below!

A MASSIVE WELL DONE to all of the girls from 5th & 6th class in their musical production Alice in Wonderland last week. They did their parents, their teachers and indeed their whole school very proud. Everyone commented on how professional they were and how they shone like stars every night! Here's a photo slideshow of the night. Thanks to Sheila & Ms. O' Toole for taking these fantastic photos! The girls in both 5th classes are reading lots of books in conjunction with Children's Books Ireland in a Shadowing process. The girls in R.16 created miniature houses representing the houses of Lilliput in Gulliver's Travels. Everything is so tiny it gives a great impression of how big we are in comparison!
We've been very busy in Room 15 since our last update. Read below and have a look at our slideshow to see what's been going on.
4 th Class (March/April) on PhotoPeach
Room 14 are having a busy April! As well as taking part in the school musical, Well Being week and the CBI Book of the Year shadowing programme with Ms. Phelan's 5th class, we are also participating in Sow and Grow initiative. Below you can see our seedlings popping up! You can also see the parachutes we made for an Energy and Forces Science experiment and our trip to the 1916 exhibition in the Botanic Gardens. We are now getting ready for Active Schools Week! Phew! :-) Ms. Brady and Ms. Coggins completed the 'Swim for a Mile' challenge in the National Aquatic Centre on the 8th of April. The girls in St.Brigid's managed to raise an amazing €760 in sponsorship. They showed great enthusiasm and support for the event and eagerly tracked the fundraising progress on the chart in the hall. This money all goes towards the School Fund in St Brigid's to cover the day to day costs of running the school. Well done to all involved.
The 5th & 6th class girls were rehearsing with the sound and lighting today and all is going really well. The hard work that we've put into rehearsing since last November has really paid off........ and the big performances are nearly here. If you haven't got your ticket for the show there are still a few left so get them quick! There will also be some available at the door on the night too. Remember the show starts at 7pm and is in Our Lady of Dolour's Hall under the church on Wednesday 20th, Thursday the 21st and Friday 22nd of April. We look forward to seeing you there on the night and hope you will enjoy the journey down the rabbit hole with Alice and cast. Room 14 enjoyed a wonderful Well-Being Week and thoroughly reaped the benefits of a calm and positive classroom. We enjoyed a lovely walk in the Botanic Gardens and did some meditation in the sensory garden. We painted and discussed our feelings during Art class. We also had a great time making our funny fruit people on 'Fruit Friday' before ending the week on a lovely, calm note with our yoga session. Some girls discovered that they liked meditation and mindful colouring so much that we have decided to continue this good work for the rest of the year with 'Meditation Monday.' We have also kept our quiet space and our Compliments Wall in operation and we write positive messages into our happy pink box. Have a look below at some of our happy memories! :-) |
