Such an exciting day today when Jonny Cooper came to visit with the Sam Maguire. 3 in a row is a huge achievement and we're so glad we got to congratulate Jonny from Na Fianna who always makes time to come and visit us. #3 in a row
We really appreciate it. We would also like to thank Niall Cooper and Mark Mc Manus from Na Fianna for organising the visit and coming along. They had a very busy day. See some of the pictures in the video below, Well done to our 5th and 6th class girls who helped get everyone into the Christmas spirit on Sunday with their lovely singing at the Botanic Gardens Christmas Fair! Our value this month is 'Non-Violence'. The sub-values that we will focus on each week during December are firstly 'Tolerance', then 'Compassion' and finally 'Concern for Others' and our song for the month is Peace on Earth by David Bowie & Bing Crosby! :o) Have a look back at some of the values-related activities and events that took place around the school last month during November's month of RIGHT ACTION! We had a special visit from 'Singer' who sang live at our assembly and we even had a call from RTE News2day wanting to know all about what we've been doing with values here in St. Brigid's. Take a look... :o) As we think about Right Action we have been watching this Kid President clip about how to make the world better and what we can do to help. Please leave a comment on what you think was the most important or interesting thing he said? Do you agree with him? This month our theme was 'People Who Help Us' Our Home Corner was transformed into a Doctor's Surgery. We have been role playing going to the doctor’s surgery being a patient, a receptionist, a nurse or a doctor. We have learned how to use a stethoscope, a thermometer and how to check someone’s reflex! We even had an X-Ray machine and eye testing area. We also started using water play this month and love learning about measuring liquids using the different containers in the water. At the art station, we painted pictures of what we want to be when we grow up. At the Construction area, we made doctor's hats, hospitals and waiting rooms using lego and stickle bricks. At the small world area, we played out a visit to the doctors using our minature characters. This has been one of our favourite themes so far and we look forward to visiting the Post Office next! The schools basketball team had a great final in the National Basketball Arena where they just lost out to Scoil Earcain by a single point. The game was extremely close with basket for basket form the tip off at the start of the game. Sadly it was not to be our day but everyone enjoyed the game and participating in the Arena. We had a great team of players, and two table officials who did a great job. The 6th class supporters were superb and very vocal throughout the game in their support of our team. We were very honoured to have the amazing 'Singer' join us for our Right Action values assembly this month!! Singer is a very lovely and very talented human values singer from Spain, who very kindly came to our school to sing his song 'Courage' for us at both our junior and senior values assemblies on Monday. We loved it! Thank you Singer!!! Have a look... :o) RTE News2day came to film our values assembly yesterday and to learn more about St. Brigid's as Values School. Use this link to see the report ;o)
